Nestled amidst the Himalayas at a staggering elevation of 12,000 feet, Dayara Bugyal is an alpine meadow unlike any other. Imagine vast landscapes painted with a vibrant tapestry of wildflowers, embraced by majestic mountains and mystical valleys. The Dayara Bugyal Trek is an invitation to explore this breathtaking paradise.
How to Reach Dehradun: Getting to Dehradun, the gateway to the Rupin Pass Trek, is convenient via various modes of transportation:
Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Raithal, the base village for the trek. The route follows the Bhagirathi River, offering a glimpse into the beauty of the region. Settle into your accommodation and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
After breakfast, embark on your trek, ascending through dense alpine forests. The well-maintained trail takes you to Odari, a charming spot where villagers collect leaves and firewood. As you delve deeper into the forest, catch occasional glimpses of Raithal through the lush greenery. After a gradual ascent, reach Gui, a small opening marked by shepherd huts and a tranquil lake called Guital.
The landscape transforms as you leave Gui behind. Pine and oak trees become more prominent, and the ascent gets steeper as you approach Dayara Jungle Camp. The vast expanse of the meadow unfolds dramatically before you, marked by traditional shepherd huts. Spend the afternoon exploring this breathtaking natural wonder, soaking in the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Return to camp before nightfall for a hearty dinner and a well-deserved rest in preparation for the challenging day ahead.
Today's adventure takes you through the heart of Dayara Bugyal. Trek towards Bakriya Top, the highest point of the meadow. The moderate ascent rewards you with breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding Himalayan giants, including Bandarpunch, Jaonli, Srikanth, Draupadi ka Danda, Gangotri I and II, Rudragaira, and many more. Descend to Dayara Jungle Camp for a satisfying lunch and then continue your journey to Barnala for the night.
An easy descent awaits you on the final day. Trek for approximately 2-3 hours to Barsu, a charming village nestled amidst the mountains. From Barsu, a scenic drive to Dehradun via Bhatwari and Uttarkashi.
